Cassis & Yoshi's

additional pictures of SF adventures with KF (mostly of food and decor from the restaurant, some of Japantown).

Finally made it to Dine About Town on Saturday night, after finding out about it a little over three years ago. Since I was trekking up to the city to eat, I thought, might as well make a night out of it and go to a concert at Yoshi’s as well. Convinced KF to come with since he’s always up for good food and jazz. Ugh made the effort and went all out on actually dressing up and looking nice, as opposed to being comfy with jeans and flip flops. As much as I complained about it (just thinking about having to dressing up while planning the night made me tired), I guess it is nice to dress up every once in a while. And I looked damn good, if I do say so myself (hah). By the way, walking uphill in SF in heels: not as much fun. Have to make sure to read street signs better next time, and not walk five blocks past the street we were supposed to turn onto.
First, dinner at Cassis. Already yelped about it, so there’s not much more to say. Good wine, great service, tasty food (although next time I’ll order better). Tried duck foie gras (mousse) for the first time. Interesting, tasted like the skin of pistachios inside their shells.
Then, abdullah ibrahim at yoshi’s. Very chill session. Was not expecting an hour-long improv set (crazy!). Even though the concert was amazing with him just doing his thing solo, there’s a small part of me that wishes he had some supporting players with him.
All in all, apart from the timing discrepancies and adventure in the beginning, not a bad night. Times like these, I wish I lived in the city, making it easier to try all the different restaurants and go to concerts.
