70. This is my 奶奶 (a.k.a. grandma on dad’s side). She and my grandpa raised my dad and my six aunts. She woke up at 5, made eight breakfasts and five lunches, and helped my oldest and youngest aunt with their home ec sewing homework (because they were too “tired”/lazy). She’s 90 now and has been living by herself since my grandpa died more than fifteen years ago. I’ve been seeing her at least twice a month, if not more, since March. It started off with everyone going out of town, so I’d go with my mom to visit her, take her out for some pearl milk tea, and get some sun and exercise. Then within the past month, relatives have been coming into town to visit her. This last weekend we even had a mini family reunion (which eventually led to this afterparty with the cousins). Anyway, I digress. Today my sister and I went to visit her. Most of what she eats these days is just salty, fried take out so we picked up some whole foods salad and sauteed corn. We also talked about her life (she’s got a crazy good memory) and took her outside for a walk. Nice weather today (better than yesterday’s on and off rain) with a breeze, perfect walking weather. My grandma is cooler than yours, in her rayban wayfarers.
